IRS vs Legislators

What is your stance between the IRS outsourcing to private collection agencies and The House and Senate making noise to end the IRS's plan to outsource a portion of their collection accounts?

Although we do not do government accounts, we think it is great to outsource to a private collection agency. We handle credit cards and maintain a level of service and security, why not IRS accounts.

Dave is correct, as an agency we are obligated to follow certain guidelines, if we do not the media has a field day, thus causing congress to react. Politicians are just that, they react to wherever the fire is to help put it out. If we as an industry do a great job, then there is no fire, thus no media, and no politicians get involved.

The more collection work we do at the fed and local levels increases our creditability. The consumers have all the political power with the legislators by complaining about id theft, credit bureau reporting and the bad bill collectors. It is critical for agencies to do well on this work to give back to the govt a good roi with no (legit) complaints.
